Happy 2012!

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.”
-Edith Lovejoy Pierce

When I think back on this year, I realize not only how fast it has gone by, but also how much has been done. I was recently reminded of where I was last December and I have to say I never in my wildest dream would have imagined all that has occurred in 2011. While there were some hard times, majority of this year has been filled with such awesome moments--from opening CrossFit 808 at the end of February to finishing 23rd at the CrossFit Games and being sponsored by 2 amazing companies: Rogue Fitness and Reebok. Moreover, CrossFit 808 has helped many in Hawaii and across the nation, improve their health and fitness through diet and exercise. Even if I could have hand picked athletes at our box, I could not have put together such a great group of people. I mean it. From our coaching staff to each and every member at 808, you guys have touched my life in ways I never imagined. At the end of the day, I am always always grateful that you are all in my life, and I hope you feel the same way.

With the first day of 2012 upon us, take some time to remember all the awesome things that you experienced in 2011 and learn from the not-so-awesome things. Then, sit down and write everything you want to see happen in 2012, from your biggest dreams to the smallest goal. Share them with your friends and family, or just fold up that paper and stick it in your sock drawer. Whatever the case, you need to have goals and you should definitely put them down on paper. I have been doing some homework of my own and it hasn't been easy writing out my goals and prioritizing my life, but I have learned so much from this and I hope you all try it. This new year is going to be great and I can't wait to see how you guys all improve both your health and fitness.

Happy New Year CrossFit 808! Here's to many more years together! Now, who's ready to get back on the Paleo train?

Love always,
Coach Elyse
